Sunrise Hospital, Delhi Hosts Grand Keyhole Surgery Event: A Resounding Success with Over 626+ Doctors in Attendance from India and Nepal

Under the visionary leadership of Dr. Hafeez Rahman and Dr. Nikita Trehan, Sunrise Hospital in Delhi hosted its annual event, marking one of the most significant keyhole surgery gatherings on July 22nd and 23rd at Hotel Hayaat Regency, New Delhi. The event showcased 23 live surgeries, broadcasted in real-time from Sunrise Hospital to Hotel Hyatt Regency, New Delhi, and Nepal via Internet streaming. With a remarkable attendance of over 626+ doctors from India and 175 doctors from Nepal, the event offered a unique opportunity for medical professionals to witness live surgeries performed by world-renowned surgeons, interact with them, and gain insights from their vast experience and expertise.

At the forefront of the surgical procedures were Dr. Hafeez Rahman and Dr. Nikita Trehan, alongside six other Indian doctors. Additionally, Dr. Horace Roman from Bordeaux, France, relayed two surgeries. The event featured major surgeries, including cancer of the uterus, infertility correction surgeries for endometriosis, adenomyosis, fibroids, and cases of prolapse and incontinence – all showcasing the efficacy and superiority of laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery over traditional open procedures. With minimal blood loss, shorter hospital stays, and superior visualization inside the abdomen, laparoscopic techniques allow for comprehensive disease removal.

Among the highlights were two successful cases of laparoscopy Encerclage, where a pregnant woman at four months’ gestation, on the brink of miscarriage, had her baby saved by a laparoscopically-tied tape at the mouth of the uterus. The event’s second day focused on a Conference CME (Continuing Medical Education) and a Socratic Seminar, further enriching the knowledge and skills of the participating doctors.

Dr. Nikita Trehan, a globally acclaimed Gynecologist and Laparoscopic Surgeon, emphasized that Sunrise Hospital deliberately organized this teaching program to update attending doctors’ laparoscopy skills, as the institution firmly believes in the principle that “no one deserves open surgery.” By honing their expertise through expert programs like this, doctors can contribute to widespread adoption of “laparoscopic or minimally invasive keyhole surgery,” ultimately benefiting patients worldwide.
